Detox diets are diet programs aimed at removing toxic from your body. (Read about the benefits of detox diets here). Though detox diet program is suitable for most of the people, it is not suitable for patients who suffer from eating disorders, pregnant women, nursing mothers and those who suffer from anemia and chronic heart diseases. Additionally people who are underweight, people who suffer from nutrition deficiency and people who suffer drug and alcohol addictions must consult a doctor or a dietician before you go for detox diets.
Side effects of detox diets mainly depend upon your physical condition and health. Generally a healthy person may not experience any serious side effects for detox diets. Some people may suffer from minor head aches during the initial stages of detox diet program. You may also experience tired and week during these days since the body is trying to adjust to the new diet. Once the body starts acting according detox diets very few people may also experience diarrhea as the body pushes out the toxins. Make sure that you drink lot of water and fresh fruits. It is always better to start the detox diet program during holidays or weekends when you don’t have much of physical work to do.
If you are not sure about your health condition, always take the advice of your doctor or a nutritionist before you for body detoxification. Also remember that a detox diet should not be considered as a regular diet for long time. Normally detoxification needs to be done only once or twice in a year. If you continue with the detox diet throughout the year you may suffer from mal nutrition and vitamin deficiencies.
Our recommendation is to take up detox diet twice in a year initially and after the first two years you only need to detoxify your body once in year. But make sure that you give up smoking, excessive alcohol consumption and stay away from fast food and processed food. Do regular exercise and stay healthy.
